Dorset NHS funded Termination of Pregnancy Service

Dorset CCG have commissioned Marie Stopes to provide early medical abortion services which is up to a gestation limit of 9 weeks + 6 days.  Any later gestation, or for women opting for a surgical procedure will be referred back into local NHS services.

Patients can self-refer without the need for a GP appointment. The service is accessed through a Central Booking System, tel: 03457 304030.

Patients can call this number to access Marie Stopes services, talk through their options, book treatment or receive specialist clinical advice from our nursing team and counsellors.

They aim to provide initial consultations within 48 hours and have capacity to provide treatment in clinics in Poole and Bournemouth

Not all eye conditions need to be seen/treated in hospital. For certain eye conditions, you can be seen in an NHS community clinic sooner and at a more convenient time for you (the average wait for an appointment is currently within 4 weeks).

Physiotherapy Self-Referral Service

You can now refer yourself to see a physiotherapist without needing to discuss with your GP first.  If you are registered with a GP practice in Dorset and are over the age of 16 years, visit MSK Dorset and complete the self-referral form.

Steps 2 Wellbeing

A free, NHS service available for people aged 18+ and is provided in the county of Dorset and also in Southampton. Referrals are accepted through the web and by telephone. You can either self-refer to this service or be referred by your doctor and other healthcare professionals.

A range of treatments is offered for problems such as depression, anxiety, stress, obsessive compulsive disorder, etc.

A community support and educational group for people who suffer with eating disorders and their carers.

 

Veteran Friendly

We are currently working towards our Veteran-Friendly Accreditation, but do have current processes in place to help all current and ex-service men and women.  Please let us know if you are an ex-serviceman or woman so that we can annotate your record and provide you access to any services.

The Veterans Gateway has now been made available via an App. Based on your location, you can access the support you need with finances, housing, employment, relationship, physical and mental health, and more.  The directory, which is intuitive and easy to use, groups all NHS facilities across the country, and over 2,000 charitable organisations. You can either use the map tool to look for organisations in your area, or search by name, post code, or descriptive words (e.g. financial support).  There is a range of Covid-19 advice available through the app.
